Germany is the first country in the world to publish an interdepartmental research strategy on the bioeconomy under the title „National Research Strategy Bioeconomy 2030“. This six-year strategy is intended to lay the foundations for innovation in the bioeconomy through research and development. The strategy sets a specific course for bio-based transformation of industry and society and was developed under the direction of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), together with six further ministries. From 2010 to 2016, €2.4 million was provided for research and development.
