Single Cell Technologies & their Fields of Application (Tumor Cells)

Organizer: LifeScienceNet Düsseldorf and DCCNet Universitätsklinikum Düsseldorf

With ‘Trends in Single Cell Analysis #3’ the University Hospital Düsseldorf, LifeScienceNet Düsseldorf and Life Science Center Düsseldorf will continue the event format ‘Life Science Innovation’, which provides insights into innovative research topics and current developments in Dusseldorf, NRW and beyond.

One advantage of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) is that we can isolate them in a viable stage, which allows us to develop preclinical models for comprehensive genotypic, phenotypic and functional analysis.

This is why 2D- and 3D cultivation of CTCs or their in vivo expansion in animal models are in the focus of current translational research aiming to develop successful and robust tools to test the efficacy of known drugs or to test compound libraries in a personalized fashion. In order to realize this, the challenge is to better understand the CTCs’ biology(ies) and to compare and test existing approaches.

This webinar’s topic will address the question “What can we do with viable CTCs apart from their nucleic acid analysis?” The invited speakers from academia and companies will give an overview on their approaches to grow and analyse 2D-, 3D- and in vivo cultures of CTCs.
