BIO.NRW goes USA

From 5 to 8 June 2023, the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center once again opened its doors for the BIO International Convention, which is probably the largest and most important event in the biotech sector. More than 20,500 professionals and leaders from the biotechnology and pharmaceutics industries attended this year’s BIO International Convention with the motto “Stand Up for Science!”. The event has been held since 1993 at different locations in the USA and is organized by the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO).

BIO.NRW has also been represented at the event for many years now. This year, North Rhine-Westphalia’s (NRW) biotechnology network, together with its cooperation partners BIO Clustermanagement NRW GmbH and NRW.Global Business GmbH, offered the following start-ups and young enterprises the opportunity to present their portfolio at the NRW joint exhibition stand as part of the German Pavilion:

CMR CureDiab Metabolic Research GmbH (Düsseldorf)

Enzymmaster Deutschland GmbH (Düsseldorf)

Numaferm GmbH (Düsseldorf)

Profil Institut für Stoffwechselforschung GmbH (Neuss)

Priavoid GmbH (Düsseldorf)

Prosion GmbH (Köln)

In addition to the classic exhibition area at the joint stand, the above-listed companies also had the option of taking part in the “Exhibitor Booth Partnering”. The two meeting rooms that were available for confidential discussions over a cup of coffee, espresso, or cappuccino proved very popular among all exhibitors.

For the teams from BIO.NRW, BIO Clustermanagement NRW GmbH, and NRW Global Business GmbH, the spacious counter at the stand was an ideal opportunity to talk to international visitors. This made it possible to present NRW as a biotechnology hub, to explore options for international cooperation, and to showcase the companies’ portfolios.

And again this year, it was possible to continue the long-standing tradition of the “NRW Biotech Networking Reception”. On Tuesday evening, BIO.NRW, together with Rentschler Biopharma SE, YUMAB GmbH, FGK Clinical Research GmbH, and Xlife Science AG, welcomed international guests and friends of biotechnology to Six West’s restaurant and rooftop area in Boston.
This kind of informal exchange provides an additional opportunity to make new contacts and find partners for projects, cooperation, and funding.
