BioökonomieREVIER is an enabler for sustainable, bio-based innovations within the Rhineland. The BioökonomieREVIER coordination office works together with stakeholders from business, municipalities, agriculture, science, education and politics as well as the public in the region, developing approaches on how a transformation to a model region for sustainable bioeconomy can take place successfully.

The first nuclei for the rapid implementation of research ideas in commercial applications are 15 so-called “innovation labs”. These are promising research approaches with very good economic implementation possibilities within the fields of innovative agriculture, biotechnology and plastics technology and integrated biorefineries. Institutes from RWTH Aachen University and Aachen University of Applied Sciences, the Jülich Research Centre and the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft represent both applied and basic research, as well as other companies from the Rhenish region such as SenseUp Biotechnology GmbH and YNCORIS GmbH & Co. KG.

BioökonomieREVIER is coordinated by the Institute of Plant Sciences at the Research Center in Jülich.
