Liquid Biopsies – A Promising Approach in Tumour Diagnosis
This is the topic that experts from academia and industry are set to discuss on Monday, 17.11.2025, from 13:30 to 14:45 at the BIO.NRW MEDICA Forum at North Rhine-Westphalia’s joint exhibition stand in hall 3, stand C80.
Liquid biopsy (LB) is a promising alternative for personalized/individual clinical diagnosis and the subsequent treatment of cancers.
Traditional histopathological examinations of tissue samples to detect and identify tissue changes are often used as the basis for targeted treatment. However, it is not always possible to remove an adequate amount of tumour tissue to perform these specialized examinations.
In these situations, the collection of biofluids, often blood, for liquid biopsy is a new, less invasive option for personalized analysis.
The tumour cells, tumour DNA, and extracellular tumour vesicles (exosomes) released in small quantities into the blood can be isolated, enriched, and used for clinical diagnosis.
This year’s BIO.NRW MEDICA Forum will provide you as representatives of academic institutions and companies with insights into different fields of application for liquid biopsy.
We cordially invite all who are interested to this year’s BIO.NRW MEDICA Forum on liquid biopsies as a promising approach in tumour diagnosis.
Please register for the event with Dr. Martina Weßling via m.wessling@bio.nrw.de.
All participants will receive an admission ticket to MEDICA.
